The study tour participants visited CETHIK Wuxi Technology on 27 June 2024. During the visit, they gained insights into how robots can effectively address everyday challenges and enhance convenience in people’s lives.
During the visit to the Wuxi International Life-Science Innovation Campus (I-Campus) on 27 June 2024, the representatives from I-campus and the partner companies shared valuable insights with the tour participants. They highlighted the current development and achievements in the biomedicine field in Wuxi, with the capital support from the local government and AstraZeneca (China). This enabled the participants to understand the crucial role of global collaboration in fostering successful advancements in life sciences.
The Welcoming Dinner in Wuxi took place on 26 June 2024. Mr William Tang, Vice-President and Chairman of Youth Committee of HK Wuxi Trade Association, expressed gratitude to the Wuxi partners for providing support to the tour and expressed anticipation for further strengthening the collaboration between Wuxi and Hong Kong while delivering the speech. Prof Ken Wong, Executive Director of HKLSS, also wished the tour participants would grab this opportunity to discover the biotechnology and life science development in Wuxi and have a great time during the trip.
The study tour participants were captivated by the serene beauty of Wuxi Huishan Ancient Town during their cultural visit on 26 June 2024. This place has attracted numerous esteemed figures throughout history, showcased its distinctive charm.
The study tour participants visited the Wuxi (Mashan) National Life Science Park on the second day of the study tour. First of all, the representatives from the Park introduced their the missions, visions and developments. Afterwards, the participants visited two companies in that Park – Boyalife and Genesis MedTech.
At Boyalife, they learned about the extraction and storage of stem cells. The visit provided insights into the use of stem cells in clinical research. Additionally, the tour participants visited Genesis MedTech, gaining a better understanding of the various products utilised in minimally invasive surgery.
The Wuxi-Shanghai Study Tour participants and interns 2024 visited Xuelangyun in Wuxi on 25 June 2024. They gained insights into optimising operations through data intelligence across various industrial sectors. This includes the remarkable achievement of the first data-driven, locally manufactured C919 airplane, a collaborative effort involving Xuelangyun and other partners.
As part of the HKLSS Summer Program 2024 Opening Program, interns 2024 had the opportunity to visit the Institute for Translational Research (ITR) and had a virtual visit to MGI’s αLab at HKSTP on 20 June 2024. It started with an introduction of ITR by Dr Kevin Lai, Assistant Director, BioMedical Technology Support Centre, Institute for Translational Research (Core Facilities), showcased ITR’s commitment to bridging the gap between academia and industry, also support beyond research and development, assisting with capital funding and guiding start-ups towards successfully entering the market. The representative from MGI HK also introduced the αLab, the first phase of MGI lab in HKSTP in the sharing session.
