LIFE SCIENCES SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM 2020 – PROGRAM DETAILS

New knowledge and technologies are constantly changing the landscape of life sciences and its many branches. To address the key needs of emerging talent in the field, HKLSS is offering a unique life sciences/ biotech internship opportunity to university students and recent graduates to explore cutting-edge research, technology and the future of life sciences through the 6-week life sciences internship program.

 

Participants will expand their skills and horizons at a mainland China biotech startup, venture capital firm, healthcare or pharmaceutical company, and engage with sector specialists through networking and presentations, exploring other career directions of biotechnology and life sciences.

INTERNS WILL

  • Acquire practical skills at a healthcare, pharmaceutical or a start-up company
  • Engage in immersive programs including interactive workshops, talks and networking activities
  • Work with experienced researchers and practitioners
  • Intern positions include: R&D, business/product development, investment, regulatory & compliance, marketing and management
  • Priority will be given to interns in applying our mentorship scheme

ELIGIBILITY

  • Open to senior-year undergraduates and postgraduate students, aged 18 or above, with an academic qualification in life sciences or a related discipline
  • Recent graduates and applicants with a background other than life sciences (e.g. business, statistics or social sciences) will be considered on a case-by-case basis

FEE AND KEY DATES

To safeguard the safety of our members and staff given the evolving coronavirus situation in Mainland China, the Society is closely monitoring the situation to determine whether it is necessary to adjust the start date of the program.

The 2020 program intake will be approximately 30 students. HKLSS reserves the right to determine the final number of interns.

Statement on Collection of Personal Data

  1. It is necessary for applicants to supply their personal data and to provide all the information requested in the application documents, as otherwise the Society may be unable to process and consider their applications.
  2. The personal data provided in this form will be used for administrative purposes relating to this Summer Internship Program and other activities organized by the Society. The data will be solely handled by the Society but may be transferred to an authorized third party providing services to the Society in relation to the above purposes and prescribed purposes as allowed by the law from time to time.
  3. The Society will send urgent messages to applicants via Short Message Services (SMS) and supplement by other means such as email (if the need arises). It is therefore important that the mobile phone number and email address that the applicant provides are accurate. Any change should be reported to the Society immediately. Those who have genuine difficulty in receiving urgent messages via SMS should contact the Society for separate arrangements.
  4. Under the provisions of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, applicants have the right to request the Society to ascertain whether it holds your personal data, to be given a copy, and to apply for correction of the data, if deemed incorrect. Such applications for access of information should be addressed to the Society.

From time to time, the Society will send the latest updates and promotional materials to applicants/members and alumni on the availability of the activities. Various communication channels will be employed such as direct-mail, email, mobile phone and other forms of social media, by using your personal data. You always have the right to make subsequent changes on your choice of receiving further marketing materials by sending a written unsubscribe request (by email or by post) to the Society at any time.
