MENTORSHIP SCHEME 2022

Do you want to explore more about the life sciences/biotech industries in Hong Kong and Mainland China? Are you eager to gain first-hand, valuable insights through one-on-one meetings? If yes, this Scheme is for you!

 

The Mentorship Scheme 2022 is designed for life sciences and biotech students, aiming to equip them with workplace knowledge and soft skills, as well as the ability to network and make relevant connections.

 

With substantial years of working experience, our chosen mentors are dedicated to help their mentees to achieve their potential and discover their strengths. All mentors are industry experts, young entrepreneurs and senior executives from a wide range of professions in the life sciences industry, including but not limited to:

 

• Consulting
• Data Analysis
• Healthcare
• Investment and Finance
• Law and Compliance
• NGO
• Research and Development
• Start-up

 

Senior executives with a background from other disciplines (e.g. business or big data) may also be invited as mentors.

Mentees will be able to

  • identify opportunities for career development and further study;
  • gain insights of HK & Mainland China's latest biotech developments;
  • equip themselves with practical, workplace knowledge;
  • learn about the latest I&T trends through visits; and
  • build their personal and professional networks.

Eligibility

  • The Scheme is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students, aged 18 or above, pursuing a life sciences or a related discipline.
  • Graduates with a non-life sciences background will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

NUMBER OF PLACES

HKLSS aims to select 50 mentees for this new cohort. However, the Society reserves the right to determine the final number of mentees.

Notes to applicants

  1. Successful applicants will be notified by December 2021.
  2. HKLSS reserves the right of final decision in all matters related to the selection and pairing.
  3. All applicants will automatically become the members of HKLSS.

Statement on Collection of Personal Data

  1. It is necessary for applicants to supply their personal data and to provide all the information requested in the application documents, as otherwise the Society may be unable to process and consider their applications.
  2. The personal data provided in this form will be used for administrative purposes relating to this mentorship scheme and other activities organized by the Society. The data will be solely handled by the Society and may be transferred to an authorized third party providing services to the Society in relation to the above purposes and prescribed purposes as allowed by the law from time to time.
  3. The Society will send urgent messages to applicants via Short Message Services (SMS) and supplement by other means such as email (if the need arises). It is therefore important that the mobile phone number and email address that the applicant provides are accurate. Any change should be reported to the Society immediately. Those who have genuine difficulty in receiving urgent messages via SMS should contact the Society for separate arrangements.
  4. Under the provisions of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, applicants have the right to request the Society to ascertain whether it holds your personal data, to be given a copy, and to apply for correction of the data, if deemed incorrect. Such applications for access of information should be addressed to the Society.

Use of Personal Data related to Direct Marketing 

From time to time, the Society will send the latest updates and promotional materials to applicants/members and alumni on the availability of the activities. Various communication channels will be employed such as direct-mail, email, mobile phone and other forms of social media, by using your personal data. You always have the right to make subsequent changes on your choice of receiving further marketing materials by sending a written unsubscribe request (by email or by post) to the Society at any time.
