In partnership with the Swiss Biotech Association, Hong Kong Life Sciences Society (HKLSS) hosted the first overseas tour in 2025. The Switzerland-UK Study Tour 2025 brought 20 emerging life sciences talents to Zurich, Basel, and London for an immersive week of learning and exchange. The tour combined company visits, academic dialogue, and science communication experiences to deepen participants’ understanding of innovation, careers, and cross-disciplinary collaboration in the global life sciences ecosystems.

In Switzerland, the Swiss Biotech Association warmly welcomed the delegation and curated a rich program that showcased the country’s biotech strengths, including visits to Roche Switzerland, Superlab Suisse, and Technopark Zurich. Throughout these sessions, senior representatives and entrepreneurs from CDR-Life, HAYA Therapeutics, InterAx Biotech, Memo Therapeutics, OmnilinX Therapeutics, Synendos Therapeutics AG, and Versameb AG shared their latest developments and market perspectives, giving participants firsthand insight into Switzerland’s dynamic life sciences landscape and emerging career pathways.

The tour also highlighted the importance of science communication and the interplay between arts and sciences. Dr David Judge, Lecturer in Science Communication at UWE Bristol, and Mr Piero Tomassoni from Artvisor led engagements that encouraged participants to think critically about how science is represented in public spaces, which they later applied during visits to London’s Science Museum and Wellcome Collection.

Participants also visited MedCity, which offered an in depth look at London’s life sciences ecosystem and the role of connectivity between academia, industry, and government. Representatives from MedCity shared their work in supporting company growth, investment, and collaboration, while also discussing the soft skills and insider knowledge needed for young talents to thrive in a competitive international landscape.

HKLSS extends heartfelt thanks to the Swiss Biotech Association for their warm welcome and thoughtful arrangements, and to all partners and speakers for their unwavering support and inspiring contributions to this meaningful journey.
