Venturing Beyond Boundaries: James Shiah

As a first-generation intern and mentee, James’ journey over the years stands as a testament to the value of practical work experience and supportive mentoring in preparing students for long-term success.

During his university years, James participated in HKLSS initiatives that sparked his drive to transform academic theories into tangible impacts. In particular, his participation in the Life Sciences Summer Internship Program with Nan Fung’s investment team in Shanghai unlocked fresh insights beyond his undergraduate studies, and the career stories of the C-level executives he encountered during the Mentorship Scheme inspired him to pursue his career in the bio-pharmaceutical industry.

Years on, James is now making meaningful contributions to the field while continuing to grow as a young professional.

James' experience with HKLSS:

• Mentorship Scheme (2020)
• Life Sciences Summer Internship Program, at Pivotal bioVenture Partners (2019)
