The Opening Program of HKLSS Summer Internship Program 2023 was held in late June. The opening program includes the launch ceremony at The Mills Fabrica, panel discussions and visit to labs under InnoHK at Hong Kong Science Park and bio-pharmaceutical companies in Shanghai – including AstraZeneca and Roche.
The opening program completed with an amazing welcoming dinner and city tour in Shanghai.
Hope interns had an incredible time meeting inspiring people from different backgrounds, and can grow professionally during the internship.
The interns of the HKLSS Summer Internship Program 2023 had the opportunity to visit the major attractions of Shanghai, exploring the beautiful landmarks and cultural heritage of this international metropolis.
The HKLSS Summer Internship Program 2023 Welcoming Dinner in Shanghai took place on 30 June 2023, with the esteemed presence of Mr Vincent Cheung, Founder and Chairman of HKLSS, who warmly welcomed the interns to Shanghai and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Shanghai partners for offering internship positions to HKLSS. The dinner featured inspiring speeches and insightful contributions from Dr Jay Mei, Member of the Advisory Board of HKLSS and Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Antengene, as well as Dr Eddy Wu, Founder and CEO of Arctic Vision.
The interns 2023 joined a guided tour in the headquarters of AstraZeneca (China) in Shanghai on 30 June 2023. The representatives from AstraZeneca introduced the facilities within the centers and shared the development of AstraZeneca China with us. Our interns gained practical knowledge and insights into healthcare innovation and patient care.
HKLSS interns of the 2023 cohort had the opportunity to visit China Innovation Center of Roche (CICoR) and Roche Accelerator under the Roche R&D Center (China) in Shanghai on 30 June 2023. Dr Hong Shen, Head of China Innovation Center of Roche and Dr Qiusong Tang, Head of Roche Accelerator, provided us with a comprehensive introduction to the innovative work carried out at these centres. The interns also met the team of experts at Roche and gained valuable knowledge from them.
As part of the Opening Program for the HKLSS Summer Internship Program 2023, interns visited to the research centers under InnoHK at Hong Kong Science Park on 27 June 2023. The event commenced with an introduction to the InnoHK Clusters, providing an overview of their initiatives. Following this, a guided tour of the research centers was conducted, offering all participants the opportunity to explore two specific centers under Health@InnoHK, which focus on all types of healthcare-related technologies development, including Centre for Immunology & Infection (C2i) by The University of Hong Kong (HKUMed) and Institut Pasteur, and Hong Kong Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (HKCeND) by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in collaboration with Stanford University and University College London.
During the visit, the interns were enlightened with the latest developments and research projects taking place within these centers. This experience provided them with a deeper understanding of the thriving biotechnology and life sciences ecosystem in Hong Kong.
